The 'I AM' Exercise

Meditation for Children | Therapy for Kids | Barnsley | Yorkshire

Sit or lay down comfortably.

Straighten your back, put your shoulders back.

Relax your shoulder muscles and your whole body and empty your mind. Close your eyes for a moment then open them back up.

Take 10 deep,slow breaths. Breath from your stomach and feel your lungs fill up. Feel yourself relaxing more and more

Relax your shoulders and neck again

Visualise yourself being happy, suceeding, winning, being loved, laughing, feeling good

Relax your forehead, your mouth and your eyes

Allow a gentle smile to appear on your face as you feel a calmness enter your mind

Then out loud, say the words below or whatever words make you powerful and special

I AM AWESOME

I AM A FAST LEARNER

I AM KIND

I AM THOUGHTFUL

I CAN DO WHATEVER I FOCUS MY MIND ON

I AM VERY CREATIVE

I AM UNIQUE AND SPECIAL

THERE'S ONLY ONE OF ME

LEARNING IS FUN AND EXCITING

I AM A GREAT LISTENER

I ACCEPT MYSELF EVEN THOUGH I SOMETIMES MAKE MISTAKES
